Writing Assignment #5: Writing a “How To”

In today’s writing assignment you will teach someone, who does not know anything about fractions, how to add and subtract fractions correctly. In order to do this, you will need to write down all the steps it takes to correctly add and subtract fractions. You may write this in a list format if you wish but the steps need to be in order and you need to correctly write out how to find the solution to the following problems.

1. 1/4 + 2/8 =
2. 1/3 + 1/2 =
3. 1/2 – 1/5 =
